Q + A

Is traveling to Israel safe right now?

YES! Statistically speaking, you are substantially more likely to be the victim of a violent crime walking down Melrose in LA than you are in Tel Aviv. (Source: United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime). As with any country, some neighborhoods are less safe than others. Please reach out to us with any specific concerns or questions.

Do I need a visa to enter Israel?

US citizens enjoy visa free travel to Israel for tourism purposes. Beginning August 1st, similar to many other countries in Europe, US citizens will need to apply for an electronic travel authorization online at least 72 hours before departure. You can apply at any time and the auhtorization will be valid for 2 years. The application takes approx 5 minutes. https://israel-entry.piba.gov.il/ For all other nationalities, we recommend checking entry requirements via Sherpa (apply.joinsherpa.com)

I am an "insert specific subgroup here". Is Israel safe for me?

YES! Israel is a melting pot where people of any faith, sexual orientation, and ethnicity are able to exist and express themselves freely provided they accept others in the same way. Don't believe what you read on the news or on Tiktok.

What's the best way to get around while in Israel?

Israel has two main ride sharing services called Yango and Gett, both available on the app store. Scooter sharing apps like Lime are also extremely popular in Tel Aviv as the main strip on the beach has a dedicated bike/scooter lane. Your car from the airport to the city should cost around 50 shekel.

Do I need to carry cash?

Yes! We'd recommend converting your home currency to shekel either before departing for Israel or once you arrive. Many small vendors only accept cash, especially in the shuk (open air markets) which we highly recommend visiting. Most restaurants, bars and other stores accept credit card.

Will my cell phone service work in Israel?

Do you think this is the AT&T website? Call your cell provider and ask.

What airline should I fly?

El Al is the only airline that operates nonstop flights from the US to Tel Aviv. Please note El Al does not operate any flights on Saturdays due to the Sabbath. Most other carriers operate flights from the US via stops in London, Paris and other major European hubs.

What city should I stay in?

Most of the wedding activites will take place in Tel Aviv. The wedding itself will be in Caesarea. We will be providing buses to and from Tel Aviv to Caesarea on the wedding day, which is about a 45 minute- 1 hour drive depending on traffic. You are more than welcome to spend the wedding night in Caesarea at the Dan Hotel. Hotel suggestions can be found in the Travel section of this website.
